Dr. McCormick was invited as Visiting Professor to present Grand Rounds at Memorial Sloan Kettering, a world renown Tumor and Cancer Center in New York City. The title of Dr. McCormick’s presentation was “Contemporary Strategies and Techniques of Spinal Cord Tumor Management.” Neurosurgeons, neurologists, and neuro-oncologists from both Sloan Kettering and Weill Cornell Medicine attended this on-site presentation. Dr. McCormick discussed his experience and strategies for patient selection, operative strategies, and microsurgical techniques for safe and effective removal of benign spinal cord tumors arising both inside as well as outside the spinal cord. Patient and treatment selection, complication avoidance, management of unusual tumor location or anatomy, and utilization of state-of-the-art instruments and techniques were the focal points of the presentation.
